TitleISL participates with germanwind on Cluster of Excellence competition

Together with about 150 partner companies and institutions situated in the northwest of Germany, the ISL takes part in the "germanwind - wind energy cluster in the Northwest Region" of the 2009 Cluster of Excellence competition of the Federal Government. The partners will jointly develop wind energy technologies for the future. The aim is to offer products and services that allow an electricity generation in 2020 with an increase of wind energy share to 30 percent. germanwind is coordinated by Wind Energy Agency Bremerhaven/Bremen (WAB), ForWind - the Center for Wind Energy Research of the Universities of Oldenburg, Hannover and Bremen, Foundation Offshore Wind Energy as well as Bremen Institute of Metrology, Automation and Quality Science (BIMAQ).

With nine other clusters germanwind is in the final round. The decision about the winner of the competition will fall in January 2010. The eminent jury is expected to select five clusters, each made up to get 40 million Euros of funding for research and development.
