The purpose of the final report of the Rotterdam pilot is to give a view on the development of the pilot and show what results have been derived.
The introduction explains the purpose of the pilot and what can be expected of it.
Than the report describes the development process and the decisions taken.
The next chapter contains the result of the pilot. Starting with the process model and the data model (defined in the architecture report) the system is functionally described. The process how to work with the Wisdom pilot system is explained by showing how information is reused by different processes (= data sharing). Finally the technical specifications are mentioned.
A short chapter explains the relation with the Bremen/Hamburg pilot.
Tracing and tracking of container positions with satellite communications was part of the pilot. The objectives and the possible choices are described. The cost benefit analysis shows that the costs of the communications should drop by 50% for break-even. Also the possibilities should be improved to promote the use of this technique.
Where operational use was not possible the report describes the results of a workshop with potential users, they were very positive on the possibilities, but they also had concerns on the implementation.
