Economic sanctions of the industrialized countries against Iran are very impressive in port transhipment

World container traffic and container handling at Bandar Abbas

The port of Bandar Abbas in Iran reached a monthly container turnover of up to 260,000 TEU before the introduction of trade sanctions. By April this year, traffic has dropped to 25,000 TEU. The current standstill of Iran’s maritime container trade may be aggravated further due to the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz.

WMore details on the development of container traffic in the region and in other ports around the world is available in our Monthly Container Port Monitor.
