Founded in Shanghai in 2016, the Global Shipping Think Tank Alliance (GSTTA) brings together experts from the maritime industry across national borders and sees itself as a think tank that aims to provide high-quality advice to international government agencies and organisations. On 20th May 2019, the members of the GSTTA are now invited to the annual meeting in Hong Kong. For the ISL, managing director Prof. Dr. Burkhard Lemper and Thorsten Friedrich, researcher for Maritime Intelligence, travel to Asia. Mr. Friedrich will give a lecture on " Selected Global Economic and Political Trends and their possible Impact on German Ports", while Prof. Dr. Lemper will speak on " Possible Impacts of Belt and Road Initiative on German Ports".
During their stay in Hong Kong, the ISL experts will take the opportunity to participate in the 10th International Forum for Shipping, Ports and Airports (IFSPA) following the GSTTA meeting. This conference is the meeting place for scientists and practitioners from all over the world who will come together to explore topics from the fields of maritime and aviation economics, politics and management. In 2019, the event will be held under the motto "Beyond Breakthroughs, Above Excellence". ISL is happy to accept invitations from the Far East and is looking forward to exchanging ideas with other business and logistics experts.
