Based on the market knowledge of ISL’s shipping experts, we provide forecasts of the development of the world merchant fleet and shipbuilding activities by segment (bulk carriers, tankers, container vessels, car carriers, etc.) and size classes. For the container vessel fleet, ISL provides forecasts of the composition of the fleet on specific trades or for specific ports based on the fleet forecast and ISL’s unique model of the cascade effect. It helps seaports to understand the development of ship sizes on the trades that are relevant for their business.

GIS support

Intelligently combining seemingly incompatible data sources with different geographical structures is our day-to-day business. We have developed own concordances between UN LOCODEs and postal codes/place names in Europe and beyond, which in turn can be linked to geographical coordinates (longitude/latitude) or statistical regions (e.g. NUTS-3 regions). Are you repeatedly confronted with non-existing UN LOCODEs and ambiguous place names? Are you restructuring your market regions after a merger? Then contact our GIS support.
