Million Dollar damages due to cyber attacks in ports - Blockchain technology as an approach to protecting systems?


Maritime transport is central to the global economy. More than 90 percent of intercontinental goods are transported by sea - ports are therefore a key prerequisite for economic success, especially for the "export world champion" Germany. Significant disruptions to large ports therefore have a negative impact on maritime supply chains and damage to the maritime economy and the trading sector.
Information and communication technologies are a possible target. In this paper the ISL deals with this problem and points out with which measures the cyber danger should be countered.
