Together with representatives from industry, politics and society, the research project NordWest 2050 has the goal to develop a long-term road map for climate change adaptation in the metropolitan area Bremen-Oldenburg in the Northwest of Germany - the so-called "Roadmap of Change". The project has been developed by a consortium of the metropolitan area and is one of seven under the program "make climate change in regions sustainable in future (KLIMZUG)” funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
As a part of its participation, the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics first carried out an empirical study on the effects of climate change for the logistics sector of the region, with the aim to reach a regionalized assessment of the future development needs of the cluster port and logistics industry. This included a written survey of the logistics enterprises and other institutions as well as in-depth interviews with experts. Overall, the dialogue with stakeholders is an important factor for the project.
