Cluster meeting of the German BMWK Hydrogen Research Network

Expected to be the energy source of the future, hydrogen offers a diverse field of research and development for companies and science, from efficient production to safe transport and use. In order to ensure the broadest possible professional exchange, these topics are discussed across sectors in the German Hydrogen Research Network, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). Here, experts from industry, universities, research institutes, and other organisations exchange ideas about the production, storage, distribution and cross-sector use of hydrogen.

ISL has been a member of the Hydrogen Research Network since 2020. After the first major network meeting in October 2022, the members of the “Infrastructure and System Integration” network cluster met on November 27th and 28th, 2023 in Oldenburg to discuss the development of key points of a roadmap for a future H2 infrastructure. During the event, the PROVIDE research project was presented by ISL. It is supported by funds from the state of Bremen as part of the AUF funding program, in cooperation with bis Bremerhaven and the Bremen Senator for the Environment, Climate and Science. In PROVIDE, ISL is investigating the potential of containerized maritime hydrogen transports as an option for importing hydrogen to Germany in the near future using special pressurized gas containers.
