Data and methods for applied research

ISL has a significant role to promote maritime logistics research. The institute is characterised by the continuous development within new methodological approaches and the provision for research data.

ISL has developed an approach to assess the economic importance for ports. The innovative approach is based on a comprehensive analysis of the transport flows and takes particular account of a port's contribution to safeguarding employment in its hinterland.

Additionally, ISL contributes to the further development of maritime logistics research by publishing thesis papers and actively participating in conferences.
