HibeBB

Heat protection for particularly vulnerable occupational groups in the state of Bremen

Heatwaves are becoming more frequent and increasing health and accident risks – particularly for outdoor work. HibeBB addresses this need by developing practical protection, information and communication strategies for businesses in the state of Bremen. These include, amongst other things, training programmes for occupational health and safety professionals. The project is being implemented by the Smart Mobility Institute at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with the Institute for Maritime Transport and Logistics (ISL). The results are expected to be transferable beyond Bremen; at the same time, HibeBB supports the objectives of the Bremen-Bremerhaven Heat Action Plan. Project results are expected to be available by early 2027.

Project objectives:

  • Identification of occupational groups particularly vulnerable to heat
  • Assessment of measures to protect against heat stress and UV radiation
  • Production of sector-specific information materials
  • Development of a strategy to build the capacity of occupational health and safety professionals to adapt to changing conditions
