Science goes Public! – Talk by Friederieke Fontes

Science Goes Public! is a series of events in which scientists present their research to a broad audience in a relaxed atmosphere, such as pubs or bars. The aim is to communicate scientific topics in a way that is easy to understand and in direct dialogue with interested parties.

As part of this series, Friederike Fontes will give a lecture on “Regional opportunities for sustainable methanol production: An analysis using the example of MariSynFuel.” The lecture will address the question of what potential northern Germany offers for the production of synthetic methanol. The MariSynFuel project examines location factors such as renewable surplus electricity, access to green hydrogen and CO₂ point sources, proximity to customers, and infrastructure for storage and transport. The aim is to identify where the greatest opportunities for sustainable and cost-efficient methanol production lie and which conditions currently still limit regional implementation.
