TRUSTEE Consortium Meeting: Progress Toward Zero-Emission Water Transport in Focus
On 24 February 2026, the second annual project meeting of the European research project TRUSTEE took place in Hamburg. The meeting was hosted by RINA Germany GmbH and jointly chaired with ISSNOVA. Representatives of all project partners, including ISL, represented by Andreas Hübscher, came together to review project progress and coordinate the next steps.
The meeting focused on strategic updates regarding the project’s core objectives. RINA presented the results of the foresight analysis on Zero Emission Water Transport (ZEWT), outlining future scenarios for zero-emission water transport systems in Europe up to 2030 and 2050 and providing a solid basis for decision-making.
ISSNOVA reported on the activities of the Stakeholder Forum aimed at cross-sectoral engagement of relevant stakeholders. ISL presented the results of the comprehensive fleet analysis, inter alia with regard to the technical equipment for climate protection, which serves as basis for the next steps in the project. Another important milestone was the launch of work on standards and policy recommendations under the leadership of ISL. The objective is to identify barriers to zero-emission water transport and to develop concrete recommendations for standardization, regulation, and policy frameworks.
In addition, NAVTEC presented progress on the evaluation framework and future use cases, while a workshop on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology established the foundation for a comparable assessment of the proposed solutions. Overall, the meeting served to consolidate results and strategically align the next phase of the project.
