Bremen Hydrogen Initiative Group with ISL participation

As part of its hydrogen strategy, the German Federal State of Bremen has set itself ambitious goals: As one of the top 10 industrial locations in Germany, Bremen wants to play a key role in the upcoming hydrogen economy. With its strategic location, its important ports, a lively research landscape, its considerable number of innovative research projects, and its powerful partnerships in the north of Germany, the business location is to become an important part of a future hydrogen economy. Based on its considerable expertise in the field, ISL supports this challenging process.

In order to drive these developments forward, the Bremen Hydrogen Economy Office in January 2025 organized a new edition of the Hydrogen Initiative Group with participation of ISL‘s hydrogen expert Dr. Nils Meyer-Larsen, who took part in the related panel discussion. Other panel members were Anke Alvermann-Schuler (Gasunie Germany), Matthias Holzwarth (Airbus), and Uwe von Bargen (bremenports GmbH & Co KG).

The aim of the event was to increase the involvement of existing networks in the state of Bremen and to exchange expertise as well as to optimize the core tasks: informing, facilitating cooperation, and empowering. The discussions included, among other things, the potential and locational advantages of Bremen, the importance of networks and funding for successful implementation, and necessary further activities, such that Bremen will be able to exploit its potentials in the hydrogen sector.
