Container traffic in Europe hits double-digit growth
According to preliminary data from ISL’s Monthly Container Port Monitor, container throughput growth was highest in Europe for the third month in a row compared with the other major markets. In November, the European ports attained a double-digit year-on-year growth for the first time since April 2021. The North Sea ports even reached 15% according to the preliminary data.
Container traffic growth was recently also above 10% in the Americas. In Asia, by contrast, it was hovering around 5% during the past 12 months and stood at only 3.1% in November – in part due to a much weaker year-on-year growth of Chinese ports than in previous months.
