ISL at the BMFTR Innovation Forum on Civil Security

Every two years, Germany’s civil security research community convenes to exchange ideas on critical research questions and current developments in this important field. The BMFTR Innovation Forum on Civil Security has thus established itself as a central hub for researchers, end-users, decision-makers, and various authorities and organizations with security responsibilities.

Representing ISL, Managing Director Prof. Dr. Nils Meyer-Larsen showcased the institute’s activities regarding the civil protection of German ports at this year’s conference in Bonn. Under the overarching theme "Rethinking Security – Jointly Fostering Innovation", participants discussed key topics such as the protection of critical infrastructure, societal resilience, hybrid threats, and the role of space-based services as security-relevant infrastructure with the aim of strengthening the innovation ecosystem for integrated security. The geopolitical shifts in the recent years underscore that security is a task for society as a whole, requiring closer integration of various approaches to research and development. The Innovation Forum provides a respective framework, serving as a venue for innovation transfer and networking.
