ISL at the European PhD Hydrogen Conference in Trondheim

This week, our colleague Friederike Fontes had the opportunity to present her doctoral research at the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Business Chemistry at the University of Münster, at the European PhD Hydrogen Conference in Trondheim. Her research focuses on the development of techno-economic models for the assessment and establishment of power-to-fuel value chains in Northern Germany, with a particular emphasis on maritime applications.

The conference brought together around 150 PhD researchers from across Europe, all working on diverse topics along the hydrogen value chain. These ranged from materials development for electrolyzers to regulatory challenges related to the use of alternative fuels in ports.

The event provided an excellent platform for both disciplinary and interdisciplinary exchange, as well as networking opportunities with researchers from all over Europe.
Special thanks go to the Dieckell Foundation for supporting the travel and stay in Trondheim. We would also like to thank the organizers from NTNU, SINTEF, and Hydrogeni, as well as the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Hydrogen Europe Research, for hosting this successful event.

The conference highlighted the diversity and dynamism of current hydrogen research in Europe. The exchange with researchers from different disciplines provided valuable new perspectives and further strengthened the international network for future collaboration.
