ISL at Science goes Public – What does the Valley have in mind for hydrogen?
Science goes Public! is a series of events in Bremen and Bremerhaven that brings research out of the laboratory and into a relaxed pub and bar setting. In spring and autumn, scientists present their topics in 30-minute talks that are both accessible and entertaining, followed by open Q&A sessions. Admission is free.
ISL Managing Director Prof. Dr Nils Meyer-Larsen kicked off this year’s spring series of Science goes Public in Bremerhaven with his talk on hydrogen. Green hydrogen is regarded as a promising energy carrier of the future when it comes to storing energy and making it transportable. It is produced using renewable energies such as wind power and solar power and can contribute to the decarbonisation of the energy supply by replacing fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas. In the state of Bremen, there are a number of initiatives to test hydrogen technologies and drive their introduction into the energy sector.
At Kapovaz in the Alte Bürger, Meyer-Larsen explained to his audience what is meant by a ‘Hydrogen Valley’ and gave an overview of hydrogen-related activities in Bremen and Bremerhaven. The audience of around 35 people followed the presentation with great interest, as evidenced by numerous questions during the talk.
