Meet the Team – Susanne Teichert

Through our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we continue to shine a spotlight on the people who make up the ISL. We provide personal insights into their career paths, areas of expertise and individual motivations. In this way, we showcase the people behind our projects who help shape the ISL every day with their expertise, ideas and dedication.

Today’s profile: Susanne Teichert, expert in Administration, Project Accounting, and Payroll Accounting.

How did you come to join ISL?

I am a qualified tax clerk. After eleven years working in a tax consultancy, I felt like trying something new in my career. So when I came across the job advert from ISL seven years ago, it was just what I needed, and I seized the opportunity to take my career in a new direction.

What does your work at the Institute involve?

I work in administration and am responsible for a wide range of tasks, including grant management, human resources management and payroll.
This requires a thorough understanding of the relevant legal provisions and regulations governing grants, payroll tax, social security and employment law.

In the area of grant management, my duties include preparing funding requests, interim reports and statements of expenditure for grant-funded projects at EU, federal and state level.
In addition, I am responsible for the payroll processing for all colleagues, as well as the associated HR administrative tasks. These include, in particular, the management and maintenance of personnel files, the recording of absences, the calculation of annual leave, the preparation of employment contracts, social security notifications and certificates, and correspondence with health insurance funds and tax offices.

Another key focus of my work is the preparation for and support during audits carried out by funding bodies and social security authorities.

What do you like most about your work?

I enjoy working with figures and value a structured, conscientious and detail-oriented approach to my work. I also enjoy dealing with legal issues and regulations. Every case is different and must be assessed individually from a legal perspective. This means it never gets boring – not least because there are constant changes to the law and every funding body sets its own framework conditions and requirements.

Furthermore, the supportive atmosphere within the team and the pleasant working environment mean that I enjoy coming to work.

Would you share one more personal detail with us?

I’ve been a real horse girl ever since I was little. In my spare time, I love spending time at the stables and going out into the countryside with my share horse. Apart from that, dancing and board games are among my favourite pastimes. You’ll also find me at the gym regularly.
