RAIN symposium amid branch association’s annual meeting
The research project “RAIN - Inland Ports' Readiness for Automated Inland Navigation” has reached an important milestone with the successful completion of its symposium. Consortium coordinator, the Federal Association of Public Inland Ports (BÖB), integrated the event into its annual general meeting on October 9, 2025 at the Turbinenhalle Berlin. In addition to representatives of inland ports, numerous other stakeholders were interested in the project’s progress.
BÖB, ISL, and the Development Center for Ship Technology and Transport Systems (DST) vividly presented the automation scenarios developed in RAIN using scenario technology. The focus is on the perspective of inland ports. The exchange with the industry that has now been initiated with the symposium is a valuable contribution to the derivation of targeted recommendations for action that is currently taking place.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) as part of the federal program “Innovative Port Technologies,” as Parliamentary State Secretary Christian Hirte emphasized in his speech later that evening.
