OVERHEAT

INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES FOR CONTAINERSHIP FIRES PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT

The "OVERHEAT" project, coordinated by IMAT with the support of project partner ISSNOVA, officially started on 1 January 2024. Its mission is to develop innovative solutions to combat and prevent fires on container ships. To do this, the project relies on a digital solution that integrates IoT sensors and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to enable comprehensive monitoring and rapid response. This initiative marks a significant step forward in terms of safety and efficiency in the maritime transport industry and has the potential to shape the future of maritime transport in a sustainable way.

Project objective:

  • Prevention and management of fires on container ships to ensure the safety of people and environmental protection.
  • Integration of innovative early detection and response solutions for fires on board container ships, including the development of a digital solution system.
  • Evaluate and promote a safety culture and best practices to prevent fires on container ships.
  • Conduct validation and demonstration activities to evaluate the effectiveness and benefits of the proposed solutions in simulated and real environments.
